Dry season vegetable irrigation system plays a key role in the economics of smallholder farmers. It serves as a source of food, nutrition, income and employment generation, especially in the off-season.

GASIP through the Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP) funding has provided solar-powered irrigation systems for 27 communities.
Our monitoring has discovered varied feedback from our farmers as they use the system for the first time during the dry season.

We encourage all the District Department of Agriculture under this GASIP programme to backstop our farmers in employing innovative irrigation practices that can enhance water efficiency, while reducing environmental burdens.
