When it comes to money, paying yourself first is number one rule. By paying yourself first, you are ensuring money goes towards your savings or retirement fund before anything else.

After harvesting and selling, you are to pay yourself first. You can open a special account and deposit between 10 - 20% of the season’s revenue in. Farmers are expected to discipline themself not to take it. This is a way of saying thank you to yourself.

Farming is a business which must be profitable. In order to know that you are making or will make a profit requires you tracking your expenses and revenue. Your Accountability Partner is there to help keep you on track when it comes to your finances; they are there to keep you motivated and to help you stay the course, especially through challenging times.

In all Operational Zones, GASIP has provided a Value Chain Officer to be your contact person. This is also to help FBOs and VCDs track their businesses’ progress and challenges while at the same time, giving all GASIP agribusinesses the needed help.

Your business’ accountability partner can be any individual you trust and value their input and guidance thus your colleague farmer, FBO member, Value Chain Driver, Input Dealer etc. You know them, so go for them!
Having an accountability partner can be the extra motivation you need to reach your financial goals.
